Alumni College Scholarship Opportunities

1. The Alumni Heritage College Scholarship

The Alumni Heritage College Scholarship was established in 2003 by the faculty and staff of MCS with the intent of encouraging college-bound alumni in their educational pursuits. Each year, teachers, staff, and administrators have the opportunity to donate to this fund, which has resulted in 100% participation for the past three years!

One-hundred percent of the proceeds are transformed into college scholarships opportunities to graduates who best represent the mission of Mariners Christian School. Awardee(s) are determined by a committee that reviews applications and utilizes a detailed rubric for evaluation and selection. Awardees are notified by phone.

Since its founding, the Alumni Heritage College Scholarship has generated over $38,000 in Alumni college scholarship funding.

To qualify, you must be a member of MCS Alumni Class of 2018. Applications will be available on March 1st, 2022 and the submission deadline will be April 15th.

2. BE BRAVE: A Scholarship to Support Alumni Students with Disabilities

The Be Brave Scholarship was established in 2019 by our very own Student Support Specialist Crystal Willis and her husband Jeff.

We have an exciting opportunity for all MCS alumni with disabilities, the Be Brave Scholarship, which is generously funded by our very own Student Support Specialist Crystal Willis and her husband Jeff. This amazing $5000 scholarship has been generously matched for the 2020-2021 school year by an anonymous donor for a total of $10,000. Two students will be awarded.

The Be Brave Scholarship can be used for:
-Undergrad or Graduate School
-Community College
-Trade school
-Training programs or internships for employment

*Recipients can use the scholarship for beginning or ongoing educational pursuits.

“While student teaching for high school students, part of her class time was spent helping students apply for scholarships. As they looked for scholarships, Mrs. Willis noticed there were no scholarships available to students who struggle academically. God put a dream on her heart to one day create a scholarship available to students who have a disability and, despite their challenges, have been able to succeed and are stronger because of it in ways that don’t always show up on a report card. Her hope is that this scholarship will encourage and support students with disabilities who want to pursue higher education goals.”

To apply for this Scholarship, please submit a 1-2 page essay responding to the prompt:

ESSAY PROMPT: Describe the learning challenges you faced as a high school student and how you overcame those struggles to achieve your goals? How has God impacted your success as a student? How do you plan to use these scholarship funds?

To qualify, you must be an MCS Alumni. Deadline for submission information to come.
